URBAN BREED announced to join M.E. onstage at his upcoming Atlanta solo performance during PROGPOWER USA XII weekend.

 

Mark "M.E." Edwards (Overlorde) has announced that vocalist Urban breed (Pyramaze, ex-Tad Morose, ex-Bloodbound) will be joining him onstage September 16th at the ARTMORE HOTEL during PROGPOWER USA XII weekend.  

M.E. noted: "I have attended the fest as a fan on multiple occasions and Urban has been there most of those times. So having Urban join me onstage for this performance, in addition to Paul LaPlaca, will make it a very special show"

M.E. checks in with news about his upcoming ATLANTA show...

"Planning for my outdoor show at the ARTMORE HOTEL on the opening day of Progpower USA XII is really kicking into high gear. My set is going to be 90+ minutes, and will feature my unique "one man show". This is my first opportunity to perform in Atlanta, and I look forward to it!"

"Besides my usual set of instrumentals, I will be joined by Paul LaPlaca (Chris Caffery Band, Ted Poley Band, October Thorns, Zandelle) on vocals. Paul has joined me onstage a few times in the NY area. Norman Skinner was also scheduled to join me onstage to sing, but unfortunately he had to bow out late last week. While this is a disappointment to me for sure, luck has it that another vocalist is coming onboard. Keep an eye out for a special announcement later this week..."

M.E. will be performing at the beautiful outdoor courtyard of  the Artmore Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday, September 16, 2011. The Artmore is the official hotel of the long running annual PROGPOWER USA power and progressive metal music festival. His performance will occur during the festival weekend, now in it's twelfth year.

DataReport Consulting LLC is proud to announce an exclusive music-filled BBQ within the beautiful open-air courtyard at none other than the renowned Artmore Hotel on Friday, September 16th.  In celebration, beginning at noon, the first 100 attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a complimentary lunch!

Guests will be treated to a special live performance by guitarist and songwriter Mark “M.E.” Edwards of the veteran U.S. Power Metal band Overlorde. The performance will feature his unique and not to be missed “One Man Show” consisting of both original and cover heavy rock & metal instrumentals. He will also be joined by singers for a number of songs.  Special guest vocalists confirmed to join M.E. onstage include the acclaimed Norm Skinner (Imagika) and much-admired Paul LaPlaca (Chris Caffery Band). Video is now available of M.E. demoing the new VST AMP RACK plugin for Cubase 6. Filmed during the NYC Club Cubase event at GUITAR CENTER on 14th street in Manhattan, M.E. is performing his instrumental ballad LOVERS. The demo features a rare public appearance of his 1968 Gibson ES-335. Thanks to Sal Pelaez of Steinberg and Club Cubase for creating the new "epic" arrangement of the backing tracks specifically for the event, as well as creating and posting the video.

Catch M.E. live at Dingbatz in New Jersey for the makeup of the snowed-out show with the Iron Maiden tribute band Sanctuary. The show will occur Saturday. April 23rd, 2011. M.E. and Bobby 'Leather Lungs' Lucas (the singer for both Overlorde and Sanctuary) will be performing some songs together. This will mark the first time they have ever performed together outside of Overlorde, and the first time they have performed together since Overlorde's show in Chicago in May 2005. This will also be one of Bobby's final shows with Sanctuary. So don't miss it!

Steinberg USA has invited M.E. to design custom presets for the new VST AMP RACK plugin  that comes with their new CUBASE 6 DAW software. This is a great honor for M.E. These presets will be made available via download from the Steinberg website in the coming months.

On a final, and sadder, note... below is M.E.s statement regarding the recent passing of Gary Moore.

 

On February 6, 2011, the world lost a legendary guitarist. Ireland's Gary Moore. When I read the news, I was in shock.

 

I am a huge fan of Gary's rock/metal work, and had the pleasure to see him live on the WILD FRONTIER tour. For about 205years, I have been referring to Gary as "my favorite living guitarist". He influenced me greatly. Just a week before his death, I had performed two of his tunes live. His instrumental BLINDER, and his version of Free's WISHING WELL. And his influence from tunes like  PARISIENNE WALKWAYS and THE MESSIAH WILL COME AGAIN can be found in a number of my songs, specifically  LOVERS.

 

R.I.P. Gary Moore. We lost you far too soon....but your music will not only live on forever in your own recordings, but also in the inspiration you have given other players who will continue to speak your praises. - Mark "M.E." Edwards  Guitarist/Overlorde

Guitarist Mark 'M.E.' Edwards of Overlorde has been added as the opening act for the Friday, January 28th, 2011 show at Dingbatz featuring headliners ZO2. M.E. will be performing his instrumental "One Man show" and joining M.E. onstage for a few vocal tunes will be Paul LaPlaca (Chris Caffery, October Thorns, Zandelle). Paul is good friends with ZO2, who are coming off of great shows at the Whisky in L.A. and the ROCK ASYLUM at the Canal Room in Manhattan. So it promises to be a special evening.

Just in time for NAMM 2011, Mark ''M.E.'' Edwards, the guitarist for Overlorde, releases a revised, professionally manufactured version of his promotional 8-Song Sampler CD! Available for free!

As described by "M.E."....

"I have recorded a number of different heavy metal/heavy rock/hard rock styles. Including instrumentals in the vein of Joe Satriani. With the exception of Overlorde, most have been demos or music that is awaiting release pending a record label signing or other distribution decision. In 2009, I started self-manufacturing an 8-song sampler CD for friends and music contacts to highlight these recordings and display my range both as a songwriter and guitarist. I wrote the music and lyrics for all the songs on this CD (*), and performed all the guitars. For the instrumental recordings, I also programmed the drums, bass and synth sounds.

I brought a number of these CDs to NAMM 2010 in January 2010 and other events. This CD directly led to my first endorsement deal, with Graph Tech Labs.

During 2010, I tweaked the CD and mastered songs 5 through 8, as those had never been professionally mastered.  I was learning how to use Steinberg CUBASE and WAVELAB and used these software programs to perform the mastering myself.  

Recently, I felt comfortable enough with the CD tweaks and mastering that I decided to have it professionally manufactured. Not only for a more professional look, but also to save me the time and effort  of burning and printing them myself. I will have them with me this week when I attend NAMM 2011 in Anaheim.

It is my intent that this CD help promote my skills and recordings, and help obtain distribution for my unreleased music. I also hope it will lead to my music, especially the instrumentals, being utilized in Film, TV and Video Games. The show with Mark 'M.E.' Edwards (of Overlorde) and Sanctuary (Iron Maiden Tribute)  tonight, January 7, 2011 at Dingbatz in Clifton, NJ has been cancelled due to inclement weather. So neither band will be performing. Dingbatz is arranging for M.E to perform during the next Sanctuary show there on April 23rd. This way, M.E. and Bobby 'Leather Lungs' Lucas (the singer for both Overlorde and Sanctuary) can perform together as planned. They may also be adding M.E to a show before that date. Overlorde guitarist  Mark ''M.E.’' Edwards  will be performing a set of original and cover instrumentals this Friday, January 7th 2011, at Dingbatz in Clifton, NJ. He will be opening for the Iron Maiden Tribute band SANCTUARY, featuring Mark’s Overlorde bandmate Bobby ‘’Leather Lungs’’ Lucas on vocals.
 
And as a special treat, Bobby will join Mark at the end of his instrumental set for some vocal covers. They plan to perform LIGHTS OUT by UFO and LONG LIVE ROCK & ROLL by Rainbow. This will be the first time ever that Bobby has joined his Mark onstage outside of Overlorde, and the first time they have performed together since Overlorde's show in Chicago in May 2005. M.E. proudly announces his first product endorsement agreement. He endorses GRAPH TECH GUITAR  LABS

 

I've been using Graph Tech String Saver Saddles since about 1996. I use them with the Kahler whammy bars on both of my Flying V's, and also the Wilkinson trem on my Stratocaster. Dave Dunwoodie has made a fantastic product.  I have my whammy bars set to "pull up"a good bit, and I was breaking my .009 E string weekly. Especially when playing out with Overlorde in the 80's. Thanks to Dave,  I immediately ceased breaking strings. Overlorde guitarist Mark 'M.E.' Edwards will be performing a set of his heavy rock instrumentals this Saturday, November 28, 2009. He will be opening for the tri-state area's ultimate Iron Maiden tribute band, SANCTUARY. Sanctuary features Mark's Overlorde band mate Bobby "Leather Lungs" Lucas on vocals (ex- Seven Witches, Exhibition), and Jimmy Peruta (ex-Exhibition, Eternity X) as well.

M.E.'s Music to be featured in Indie film DEFECTIVE MAN

Debuting at the TROMADANCE New Mexico 2009 film festival on November 21st will be the independent film DEFECTIVE MAN! (SB-Films). It is the first film to feature songs written and recorded by Mark 'M.E.' Edwards as a solo artist, and the second release featuring a song written by him (the straight to DVD release ALTITUDE SICKNESS: INTO THIN AIR by Ace in the Hole Productions featured Mark's song SNOW GIANT performed by his heavy metal band OVERLORDE)

DEFECTIVE MAN! is the story of two co-workers who, after being injured in a chemical accident, become not-so-super heroes... The film will air at 2:45 pm.

The movie features his songs FUNKENSTEIN and STING OF THE V.

Note from M.E.

My thanks to everyone who came out and supported me, or saw me for the first time, on June 24, 2006 during the BROOKLYN METALFEST at THE HOOK!

It was a great night. Lots of great bands, the crowd was cool, and it was my first time playing out in over a year. And of course I was also celerating my birthday. I did three "One man show" solo sets between bands (me on guitar accompanied by programmed drums and bass) and I also performed with headliners MAGUS BEAST during their set. We performed KILL WITH POWER by Manowar and it went great. As a special note, former Manowar guitarist ROSS THE BOSS was in the audience during the song.

My sincere thanks to all the guys in Magus Beast. The jam was great guys!

It was also cool to see so many people from the NYC TriState Metal meetup group (see below left) come out in support of the fest.

Now as many of you know, I performed my "One Man Show" on the floor, off to the right of the stage. And as you know, a drunken audience member walked into my equipment between my first and second sets. He knocked over my Marshall stack, which fell both onto me and crushed my Flying V.

I of course was OK, as I continued performing the rest of the night. But as you see in the below picture, the Flying V broke into two pieces.
 

I knew upon seeing the break that, a bad as it seemed, my repairman could return it to its original condition. And yes, I have delivered the guitar (as well as a Marshall amp head and cabinet which were also damaged) to him and he has promised IT WILL BE FIXED!

Who is this miracle worker? Rich Koerner at TIME ELECTRONICS in Union NJ. Rich will be photodocumenting the repair as it happens and I will post pdates as they go online.

My thanks to the management of THE HOOK and the festival organizers for their professional handling of this unfortunate situtation.

M.E. News:

M.E.'s CDr demo G.W.A.(GUITAR WITH ATTITUDE) is now available at the Sonic Age Records online store. This makes it much easier to order for those who live outside of North America, especially Europe. SICK IDIOTS/REVOLVER BAND CONTEST

M.E. has been asked to judge an international band contest sponsored by Sickidiots.com and Revolver Magazine. Mark joins other judges such as Lemmy (Motorhead), Don Dokken (Dokken) and Jani Lane (ex-Warrant). The initial phase of the contest has fans voting for their favorite bands, then the judges will choose from the finalists. The contest is in process. Bands can still enter, and fans can vote, here.

 

Overlorde News:

DVD Released, Video posted

The official DVD of KEEP IT TRUE IV has been released. This features four of Overlorde’s songs (20 minutes) from our debut European gig in April 2005. This is the first EVER DVD release featuring Overlorde footage. We are glad to report that the DVD came out excellent. Great audio and video.

Since the DVD will be difficult to get in the USA, we may be offering it via mailorder to all our fans. The DVD would come with a free full size promotional poster. So if you have any desire to buy the DVD, contact us right away so we can be sure to contact you directly one we decide to proceed with the offer.

The Overlorde MYSPACE PAGE (click here) has been updated for Christmas, including a short guitar solo version of GOD REST YE MERRY GENTLEMEN recorded live on Dec 26, 1986. Check it out.

HELL HATH NO FURY, as chosen by Overlorde's fans, is the second single/MP3 from RETURN OF THE SNOW GIANT. It is available for streaming and download from www.myspace.com/overlorde. The downloadable file is a high quality 192k bit-rate, so anyone wishing to use it for radio airplay (either broadcast or streaming) should find it to be exceptional quality.

Temporary MP3 Posted: The very excellent Norway-based online radio station/webzine METAL EXPRESS has posted a streaming version of Overlorde's Colossus (Island of the Cyclops) MP3 for all to hear! But hurry, it will only be available for a limited time. Check it out here in their JUKEBOX section.  Feel free to leave a comment under the song like so many others have!  Then try tuning in the Metal Express radio stream. Once you successfully stream the station, request Overlorde when you see THE DJ IS ONLINE in the top right corner. If you do not yet own RETURN OF THE SNOW GIANT, request a song you haven't heard yet! Choose from the song titles from the below tracklist.

 

Live interview with guitarist Mark "M.E." Edwards: Overlorde's Flying V slinger will call into HIGH VOLTAGE metal radio show in Oslo, Norway on Sunday, September 11th to talk about RETURN OF THE SNOW GIANT, the band's 20th anniversary, and his Norwegian heritage. While the show itself is in Norwegian, the interview will be in English. The show airs locally on FM 101.1  and can also be heard live over the internet worldwide. Well there's been no update here  June but that doesn't mean things have been slow. Oh no! The Overlorde CD has really been gaining steam, and a ton has been going on. Here are all the announcements so far:

 

1) Overlorde announces that guitarist Mark "M.E." Edwards will represent Overlorde for an official MEET AND GREET session with fans during PROGPOWER USA VI metalfest in Atlanta, Georgia. M.E. will be the guest of THE END RECORDS on Saturday, September 17th. Fans can get full sized Overlorde promo posters signed by M.E. and can also pick up the bands highly praised Sonic Age Records debut CD titled RETURN OF THE SNOW GIANT. Including the new vinyl gatefold edition!

Signs will be posted at the festival starting Friday, Sept 16th, announcing the exact time of the MEET AND GREET.

M.E. will also have copies of his solo release G.W.A. (GUITAR WITH ATTITUDE) for sale. To learn more about this Joe Satriani style release, visit www.meflyingv.com

2) Overlorde announces the launch of its MySpace Music page at MySpace.com! Guitarist Mark "M.E." Edwards explained the importance of this:

"The metal community has really flourished at MySpace. Especially the American fans. We just recently became aware of MySpace Music, which allows bands to post songs and interact in a positive way with fans. It really is a great place to bring the bands and fans together, and I think its going to go a long way in rejuvenating the classic/heavy/power metal scene here in the states.  The response has already been great. The page has only been up for about 10 days and we have already hooked up with over 500 new fans!"

The site is found at www.myspace.com/overlorde. Anyone who already has a MySpace profile is invited to send an ADD FRIEND REQUEST to the band. For everyone else, you don't need to be registered to check it out but it is required to access all sections of the Overlorde page. Registration is free.

"People visiting the site will find some cool things and surprises on our MySpace Music page in the coming weeks". Edwards explained. "And right now there is information regarding a contest to win free shirts and posters. You can also post to a blog wishing some of Overlorde's band members a happy birthday. 3) Overlorde launches contest with METAL MANIACS magazine! Yes, one of America's top Metal Magazines has teamed up with Overlorde and Sonic Age Records in a contest to give away 5 prize packages. To enter the contest, click here.

As previously reported, Germany's HEAVY, ODER WAS!? magazine featured Overlorde's CD in its SOUNDCHECK feature. The CD came in an amazing #2 out of 73 CDs reviewed! Now see the list yourself here.

 

4) http://www.nepatoday.com, the online home of FOX affiliate FOX56 WOLF-TV, marked Overlorde's 20th Anniversary with an interview featuring Overlorde's Kong. JUNE 23, 2005

OVERLORDE's 20th ANNIVERSARY is here! The band was named June 6, 1985 and played its first show in November 1985. The first event to mark the anniversary is this Friday, June 24th.

OVERLORDE will be live in-studio at WDHA-FM in New Jersey this Friday, June 24th. The band will be talking about RETURN OF THE SNOW GIANT and celebrating its 20th anniversary with some give-aways.The show airs on 105.5 FM in Northern New Jersey and can also be streamed live at www.wdhafm.com (be sure to test the stream well in advance). So fans world wide can tune in!

The show is METAL MANIA, hosted by Matt Murray. It airs from 11:00 pm Eastern US Time to 1:00 am. The interview will probably occur between 11:15 and midnight. Metal ON!

The new year has been nuts, M.E.'s been doing lots of interviews for major metal magazines worldwide among other promo for RETURN OF THE SNOW GIANT! Leaving little time to help with updating the site. But here it is!

WDHA FM's METAL MANIA aired SNOW GIANT on Friday, Feb 11th. Overlorde thanks DJ Matt Murray for continuing the tradition of Metal Mania's support for Overlorde, which began when Metal Mania's Cheryl Richardt supported the band in 1987.  If you live in the WDHA listening area (Northern NJ) be sure to listen and request Overlorde each Friday night during the show!

There have been a few updates at www.overlorde.com (see current news, updates since January 12th). Also, there is talk of more Overlorde shows both in the USA and Europe. This in addition to the fast approaching Overlorde performance at KEEP IT TRUE metalfest in Germany on April 2nd!  So hopefully M.E. will be performing at a venue near you...

JANUARY 10, 2005

The New Year begins with a life long goal of M.E.'s fulfilled. The worldwide professional release of a CD featuring his playing. This occurred December 17th, 2004. M.E. thanks all those who have supported him in this endeavour over the years. You all rock!

But now is not the time to rest. Lots of work remains to ensure the CD is a success.

The release of the CD in Germany, Austria and Switzerland was delayed from December 17th to today, January 10th! North American, Polish, and Scandinavian distribution to follow soon. 

M.E. invites everyone to a special worldwide web event this coming Saturday, January 15th. This being an "Online CD Listening Party and Chat Session". Chat with M.E. and the other members of Overlorde, as well as Overlorde fans from around the world, while the CD is streamed online. Recording for RETURN OF THE SNOW GIANT began July 25th.

OVERLORDE PRESS RELEASE: Recording Update For immediate distribution 7/13/2004

Overlorde enters the recording studio on July 25th to begin recording its debut CD for Cult Metal Classics Records, titled "Return of the Snow Giant".

The recording is being done at Trax East, located in South River NJ. The recording sessions will be engineered by Eric Kvortek, and the mixing sessions will be engineered by Eric Rachel.

The sessions are also being video-documented by Overlorde Force Recon Pathfinder Greg Smith (OFR# 96-P). 

The following songs are being recorded for release on the CD (note: not in exact song order):

The official launch of www.meflyingv.com. Please sign the guestbook and sign up for the e-mailing list!  The site launch corresponds with the CD-R demo re-release of G.W.A. (Guitar With Attitude).

Expanded from eight songs to thirteen, the demo is now 52 minutes of hard and heavy rock instrumental material in the vein of Joe Satriani. Digitally mastered at M.E.'s DAS BUNKER STUDIO.

Packaged in a jewel case with full color gloss booklet, it comes in a resealable clear "poly bag".
